Rules for this Web Ring

Purpose

This Web Ring joins home pages of Native Americans & Canadians, organizations for Native Americans & Canadian and other indigenous peoples.

If you are a Native American, Canadian First Nations, or have a site for an Aboriginal Organization or have a site for other indigenous peoples, you would qualify for inclusion in this ring.

Other Rules

You may register either

  1. the page containing the actual Web Ring Controls for the WEB-2000 Ring, or

  2. the primary ("home", "index" or "default") page for your site.

If you do not choose option #1, then there must be a clear link to your "Web Ring pages". This link must either be on your "primary" page, or, if your "primary" page is a "splash" or "entry" page, then on the "second" page of your site.

These requirements are to ensure both that Web Ring travelers can easily continue linking through the sites and that other visitors can find your Web Rings.

The Process for Joining

General

Joining a Web Ring is very simple. In general, the process is the same for every Web Ring:

  1. Register your site in the Queue using a simple form.

This form is either present on or linked to by the Web Ring home page. It generally asks for the (a) site title, (b) URL, (c) description, (d) webmaster name (e) webmaster email address, (f) keywords and (g) a description.

When submitted, the WebRing System creates an entry in the Web Ring Queue for this site and assigns a Site ID and stores the information.

  2. Obtain the Site ID from your registration.

The Site ID is required to drive the HTML. The RingMaster also needs it to find your entry.

  3. Copy any required graphics from the Web Ring site to your server.

Most RingMasters do not want you to link directly to their graphics. Instead, you must copy the graphics to your site.

  4. Put the Web Ring Controls on the page you registered and make any modifications required according to the instructions you receive.

  5. Notify the RingMaster that you did.

  6. The RingMaster reviews the site and moves you from the Queue to the Ring.

This Ring

For this ring, the specifics are:

  1. Click here to open the form to register your site. (It will open in a new window.) Fill out and submit the form. Continue here after you finish submitting.

  2. When you register you will be presented with your Site ID (very important) and the HTML for the Web Ring Controls.

  3. Copy the WEB-2000 Ring graphic from this page (below) to your site. (You must host this graphic on your site.)

  4. Place the HTML for the Ring Controls on the page you registered. Modify the HTML to reference the graphic you placed on your site. You may also make other custom changes, provided you use an authorized graphic, maintain the functions and remain true to the spirit.

  5. Return the email you received so I can check your work.

  6. I move you from the Queue to the Ring.

What if I'm already in the Queue?

If you are already in the queue, send your site information to the ringmaster at seykens@web-2000.freeservers.com. Then I can check your site and move you to the ring.

If you are already in the queue and either haven't yet put the HTML on your site click on

http://nav.webring.org/cgi-bin/navcgi?ring=web2001;edit

(You'll need to know your Site ID. If you don't remember your password, it will send it to you.)

The edit page will give you your very own customized HTML.

And, if you are in the queue and can't remember your Site ID, write me. I'll help you find it.

But what if I'm already in the Ring but deleted my Web Ring Controls?

If you know your Site ID, you can log on to

http://nav.webring.org/cgi-bin/navcgi?ring=web2001;edit

(You'll need to know your Site ID. If you don't remember your password, it will send it to you.)

The edit page will give you your very own customized HTML.

If you don't know your Site ID, go to

http://nav.webring.org/cgi-bin/navcgi?ring=web2001;list

That will take you to the Ring List Page. There you can enter a search term to search for your entry (words in your site name, your description, keywords you entered for your site). When you find your site, you can see your Site ID and then log in to get the HTML. And, if you've forgotten your password, the system will send that to you also.

O.K.: I'm in the Ring. I still have the old Web Ring Controls. But I want to use the new one. Now what?

Again, it is simple. Just log on to

http://nav.webring.org/cgi-bin/navcgi?ring=web2001;edit

(You'll need to know your Site ID. If you don't remember your password, it will send it to you.)

The edit page will give you your very own customized HTML.

How Do You Spell "Web Ring"?

That is an interesting question. Is it "Web Ring" or "WebRing", two words or one. And is a "Ring" the same as a "Web Ring"? For the answer, see my Web Ring FAQ Page.
